I expected the iFixit teardown to be a series of disappointments about repairability, so I was quite relieved to discover that it wasn’t all doom and gloom.

“In terms of repairability, it’s not great, but on the plus side, some of the connections are quite pleasant. You should have seen our teardown team jump when they realized that the side arms could be popped out using a seam-removal tool, for example, magnetically. Cushions are more user-friendly.”

Apple is clearly building on lessons learned from previous products when creating new ones, and then the cycle begins again as it continues to refine — and reduce costs — these new products.
